Player counts are estimates: the real limit depends on your plugins or mods, the render distance and the size of the map.

Your Rust island, from the first rock to the end-of-wipe raid

Rust never pauses. A game started from a player's PC stops as soon as they close the game, and the whole world waits for them to come back. On a dedicated server, the base keeps existing, the doors hold, the furnaces run and your friends come to farm, raid or repair a wall while you sleep.

A Rust server set up at home exposes your IP address to every player who connects, and takes the hit from the slightest attack in the middle of the evening. Our Ryzen 9 machines at 5.4 GHz with DDR5 ECC and NVMe Gen4, in Paris, run continuously behind permanent DDoS protection. Your backups are automatic and can be restored from the panel.

The panel sets your mod framework whenever you decide: none, Oxide (uMod) or Carbon. The Plugins page searches the uMod catalog directly and installs in one click. Map size and seed are set there too, the wipe is triggered from the panel, and the name, description and player count are changed in a few seconds.

Frequently asked questions about hosting Rust

How much RAM does a Rust server need?

Our Rust plans start at 8 GB, which suits a medium map and a group of friends. Usage depends mostly on map size and the number of bases built: a large, populated map, or a stack of Oxide plugins, demands more memory.

Can I install Oxide or Carbon plugins?

Yes. You first choose the framework in the panel: none, Oxide (uMod) or Carbon. Then the Plugins page lets you search the uMod catalog and install whatever you want in one click. The web file manager remains available to adjust configuration files.

Hosting Rust on my PC, bad idea?

Because the world stops as soon as you close the game, and your personal IP address becomes public to every player. With us, the server runs continuously in a Paris datacenter, behind permanent DDoS protection, on a dedicated machine that does not share your gaming resources.

How do I launch a wipe on my server?

The wipe is triggered from the panel, whenever you decide. You can take the opportunity to change the map size or seed before the restart, so that the new season starts on different terrain. An automatic backup remains restorable if you want to go back.

How many players can my server host?

The player count is set in the panel, like the server name and description. In practice, the useful limit depends on your plan's memory and the chosen map size: a small, very busy map saturates faster than a large, well-spread map.

How long does delivery of the server take?

A few minutes. The server is delivered installed and started, with its free subdomain. All that is left is to choose your mod framework, set the map size and seed, then share the address. The live console and the CPU and memory statistics are available from the first login.

Can I switch to another game in the catalog?

Yes, free of charge. One command from the panel is enough to switch your machine to any game in the catalog. If your Rust community takes a breather after a long wipe, you change game for a few weeks, then come back. French support answers by ticket if you have any doubt.
